What a Great Day

Image
What a great day it turned out to be last Saturday. After looking at the weather forecast the night before it looked like I would be doing it in the rain but prayers were answered and the day started grey but dry and brightened up as the day went. 8.45am and I am off on the first lap, set my normal pace and was going well, took my first short rest after 4 laps, met the first of many people from CancerCareline that were there selling Welsh Cakes and a cup of tea, ( Thank you Brace's Bread for donating the Welsh Cakes). Halfway through and still feeling good, my daughter joins me for a few laps so I pick up the pace as she is jogging, by now quite a few friends from church are there and give lots of very loud cheers as I go by. About 2.30pm I only had 4 laps left to go, so I told family and friends that I will just carry on and see how far I could get but my sister nagged me to stop at 20 laps, after a short debate we agreed I could do 2 extra laps, so 22 laps, 28 miles, 8hrs late

The Last Night

I am about as ready as I am going to be, shame the weather is not too good but it wont stop me. Going to enjoy time with my family this evening, going to have a house full with the Grandkids, Daughter, Son inlaw and Sister but its going to be fun, Chinese takeaway and maybe some wine.

Best distance so far

Garmin Connect Got well prepared for this, had porridge for breakfast and a protein drink, packed a banana, jaffa cakes and energy drink then left at 9.30am. It was only when I got there I realised that I had forgotten to put my teeth in...... so went around with out smiling...

Back in Training

After 9 days having to rest I am back training, did 2.5 miles yesterday and 4.5 miles today. Just pray the weather keeps good for a while.

A Hill To Far

Last Saturday went out for a push to a new place we found and like most places in Wales there was a steep hill at the start, going down was fun. Four miles later after a lovely push chatting with my mate Lee it was time to get back up the hill, now me being me I thought I can do this on my own with out any help, got about half way up when my arms gave out and had to shout for help. As a consequence of me being stupid I have damaged the muscles and tendons in my arms and shoulders and not been able to train for over a week now. With only four weeks to go before my first challenge of 26 miles, I pray that my arms will get better very soon.
Just sent of my application to attempt the world record of the longest distance in a wheelchair in 24hrs (113.34 miles) hope to be doing it next June.
My first adventure is less than seven weeks away now, 22 nd August, I am going to be doing 20 laps (26 miles) around http://parcbrynbach.co.uk/   This is to raise money for http://cancercareline15.btck.co.uk/ if you wish to donate any money please use the donate button on the side. All money donated will go to the charity.
