Sorted at Last (nearly)

Well that was a fun 2 days..😀. I have been having bad pain in my left side for the last several week but the pain did not bother me to much because I was smoking cannabis and that had sort of numbed the pain but i knew from experience that the pain was quit bad. I had seen GPs and nurses during this time but they could not find any thing wrong the pee or blood tests  so I  was still stuck with the pain... Just over a week ago I stopped smoking weed and was trying to stop tobacco as well and was doing pretty good, the pain in my side got a little worse each day. Was woke up on Monday morning about 6am in a lot of pain, this was past a 10, so after going throught the online 111 it told me to call 999. The ambulance team were great and we were soon off to A&E, we were all hoping it was not to busy and we were in luck as there were only 3 others waiting but I was in the hospital within 10 mins. I don't remember how long it took to be seen but some time in the evening I was on the

Men, get it Checked

Several days ago I had to have a blood test to rule out things to do with my tummy problems was all good apart from raised PSA levels so the nurse wanted me to see the Male Dr to have my prostrate examined. This is what puts most men off having there prostate examined and I can understand why, but if I had not had that procedure i would not know about the lump i have on my prostrate. At the moment i don't know if it's cancer or not, the chances are that it is as my dad had it. If its not then great, keep on getting fit for my USA trip..😀 If it turns out to be cancer then I am in a good place mentally and physically to deal with it. Nothing is stopping my road trip next year. Doing a mini road trip to Wales next weekend...😀

New Pushing Place

Image
Took myself to a new place today (Southbourne Beach) I need to get better at taking selfies. Found a way down to the beach at Hengistbury Head end of the beach, was quite a steep slope down, but i thought I wont have to go back that way as is a lift further down that i could use. So off I set, was a really nice warm day. The path was pretty good to push on, not to much of a camber, just had to go around a few piles of sand on the way. 1.5 miles later i am at Boscombe pier. It's only when I take this photo that i realise i have to go all the way back yet. So off I set, at least the breeze was behind me and that makes a big difference, by now i am getting a bit tired as this is my first day out for a few days as i have had to rest but in the distance i could see the lifts. It seemed to take ages to get to the lifts but made it..😀 The last few hundred yard was hard work but I though, nearly over, get the lift to the top then most down hill to the car. (was so wrong) Wish i had taken

New Challenges

A lot has happened the last several days, took myself to A&E last Thursday 5th with the tummy problems I had but after waiting for 3 hrs and then to be told it would be another 8 hrs I decided to go home and call the GP in the morning.  I had bloods taken on the Friday and then saw the nurse on the Monday, that's when I found out about the hernia and the diastasis recti, (that is doing a lot better now) and that my PAS levels were a little high and she wanted me to see the male Dr on Weds to have my prostate checked. I know its not a nice experience but some times you just have to do it..:) To be honest I did not expect him to say what he did, I expected  " yes that's all good" not " you have a lump on your prostrate so we will fasts track you to the clinic". Because of my family history and my health there is a good chance it will be cancer. There is no way I am letting any thing stop me going on my road trip to the USA next year. So at the moment its

Test push

Image
Took the new rim out for a test push. Had not been to Mudeford for a few days, had to rest the hand, ended up a great day and pushed over 5 miles....😀 Will have to get used to pushing with different push rims until I can afford to change the other side. It has made a huge difference in using my left hand. After 5 miles I needed tea and cakes....😀

Random post

One thing I forget from the stroke, is/was the emotional changes. Before I was a sort of normally guy, a few tears at a sad film. It was no problem for me to cry a bit at a movie, but after the stroke, WOW I was fucked….lol I lost all control of my emotions, pre stroke a few tears but now, full blown uncontrollable crying, I could not stop…   When I first had the stroke, I watched 13 seasons of Greys Anatomy  I cried 80% of the way through ever episode.   Was getting to where I could watch an episode and only cry for maybe 5 mins, then….  W as doing good, FFS, but I had another stroke, only a  TIA, but it set my emotions back and even now when watching TV I can get very angry when I lose control of my emotions

Meet Stuart he has joined me on my adventures so i am not alone...😀

Monday fun

Went for a push at Mudeford Quay this afternoon, but after a short while I noticed my left hand starting to hurt, so being sensible for a change I turned around and came home. I need to rest for the next couple of days so will only use the electric chair to go out. Maybe I am learning to stop before the pain gets to bad…. lol. A few days rest is better than weeks
Got the gopro sorted out today, this is a short clip of one of the places I push.   Short clip

New Training Route

I am starting to add pushes from home, I have one route at the moment that’s about 1 mile and a easy push.  I wanted a route I could do on the road so looked on google maps and planed a route that should be about one mile and off I set. Was nice to push on the road, so much easier that the paths. After a while I did not know where I was so just kept pushing and getting more lost, then I had a thought, look at the map on my phone.  Worked out where I was and where I had to go, I can’t push and look at my phone at the same time, so I had to remember where I had to go, well that didn’t go very well, got lost again, it took 2 more looks at the phone before I knew where I was. Will try again tomorrow.

Update

6 years since my last wheelchair adventure, a lot has happened it the last 6 years so this is a quick catch up. 2016 -2017 Separated from Chris and moved to Mid Wales (Llandrindod Wells) had a nice flat, took up playing in door bowls, turns out I was not too bad at it and got picked to play for Wales disability bowls it the tri nations (Wales, England and Scotland) we lost, and England won. Playing bowls at club level was great fun and I made a lot of friends. I was getting out a lot in my chair, used to love going to the dams and making videos. Had two great carers while I was there Garath and Rebecca. 2018 did not start well as I had to stop playing for Wales disability bowls team due to me being silly and messing up my shoulders then in Feb back in hospital with a diverticulitis flare up, not long been home and had a stroke on the 3 rd March. That was fun waking up on my own to that, I had no use of my left arm, and the left leg was very weak, and I needed the loo….
